Mary Ann Gerisch Obituary

Mary Ann Gerisch of West Monroe, NY passed away on Friday April 04, 2025.

Visitation will be held at Traub Funeral Home in Central Square on Friday April 11, 2025 from 4:00PM - 6:00 PM, ending with a sharing of memories.

Born in West Boxford, MA to the late Milton and Marcia Sweet on February 28, 1944, Mary Ann graduated from High School and married Alfred Gerisch on April 03, 1965. The two shared 60 blessed years raising their family and making memories together.

Mary Ann and her husband shared an interest in antique cars, both belonging to the Mohican Model A Ford Club, the Oneida Lake region of the Antique Automobile Club of America, the Erie Canal region of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America, and the Pathfinder Antique Auto Club. Mary Ann was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mary Ann was a talented artist, crafter, and cake decorator. At one point she owned her own business creating cakes that were truly works of art; wedding cakes being her specialty. She also briefly bought and sold non-sports trading cards. She loved painting, music, Star Trek, and anything science-fiction. Mary Ann was a member of the Syracuse Area Miniature Enthusiasts (S.A.M.E.), often creating intricate dollhouse miniatures in her free time. Mary Ann was always busy making flyers for some event or another, putting together newsletters or other materials for her various clubs she was involved in.

When her daughters were growing up, she led the local chapter of the 4-H Club and helped found the “Clover Buds” for children under 8 years old. Her daughters will always remember 4-H, taking art classes, painting, and making miniatures with their mom over the years.

Mary Ann radiated love. She strived to make sure everyone felt welcome in her presence and became a second mother to many. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving is her loving husband; Alfred, her daughters; Wendy (Darrell) Wentz, Marcia (Robert) Beaudry and Margaret (Michael) St. John, her siblings; Milton (Joyce) Sweet and Barbara (Robert) King, grandchildren; Shea and Robyn, as well as her dachshund; Maxwell and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her poodle; George, and her pet rooster; Chirp.
