Maurice F. O'Brien

Maurice F. “Bud” O’Brien, 77, of Amboy, passed away on December 7, 2021 at his home. He was born on February 17, 1944 in Syracuse, NY to the late Jeremiah and the late Dorothy (Dymack) O’Brien. He was raised by his aunt, Margaret O’Brien. Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Judith in 2008; his sisters, Eileen Hodge, Katherine Lytle, and Mary Agnes Phoenix; and his brother, Jeremiah O’Brien.

Bud graduated from St Anthony School in the Valley of Syracuse. He then joined the Marine Corps and served 6 years. He was a Project Manager in various environmental projects. Bud was a devout Catholic and was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed his heritage Irish music and he played the Accordion. He was Chairman of the board of the CNY Marian Center.

Bud is survived by his children, Maurice “Morrie” O’Brien, Bridget Marion, Kristen (Mike Mattison) O’Brien, and Sean (Yumiko) O’Brien; grandchildren, Lincoln Marion, Alyssa Mattison, Mike Mattison, and Brianna Mattison; great grandson, Landon Michael Mattison; brother, Patrick O’Brien; multiple nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held from 3- 5 PM on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Traub Funeral Home, Central Square. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10  AM in the Divine Mercy Parish, Central Square. A Spring Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery Williamstown.
