Michael Hall, Sr. Obituary

Michael J. Hall Sr., 69, of Central Square, New York passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving wife Dona, son Michael (Hannah Longley) Hall II, close friends Bonnie and John. Born on August 14, 1956, to the late Oliver and Ruth Devendorf Hall, in addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Timothy Hall and brother-in-law, Joseph Bateman.

Michael is survived by his devoted wife of nine years the former Dona Bateman, who stood faithfully by his side through every season of life. His legacy lives on through his son and namesake, Michael (Hannah) Hall II; siblings, Mark (Bonnie) Hall and Christine Hall-Finney; brother in-law, Terry Bateman, sister in-laws Mary Bateman and Bonnie Bateman Davis; his treasured grandchildren, Corbin, Emerson and Jase; nieces, Katie, Amy, Dawn, Heather, and Lauren; nephew Brandon, all of whom adored their uncle’s humor, guidance, and steady presence. His beloved dogs, Montana and Kelly.

A pillar of the Central Square community, Michael dedicated countless years to service. He was a Life Member of the Central Square Fire Company, where he not only served but also led as President, giving selflessly to protect and support his neighbors. His commitment to service continued through the Sons of the American Legion, where he proudly served as treasurer and bar steward.

Michael was the recipient of numerous awards throughout his life, but it was never about the words on a plaque. He had enough accomplishments and accolades to fill the walls, yet what mattered most to him was the service behind those honors. Michael never said "no"-often even when he should have- but that was who he was. For Michael there was no greater duty than serving his community. The world would be a better place with a few more Michaels and a few more acts of selfless service.

Michael had a lifelong love, sometimes love- sometimes hate of vehicles and bodywork. From the age of sixteen, he rarely put a tool down, working tirelessly until the day his hands could no longer hold one. A true jack-of-all-trades, he always had a project underway, often with the goal of surprising or impressing “the Mrs.” with his latest handywork.

Michael’s humor, determination, generosity, and unwavering willingness to help others touched the lives of everyone who knew him. His legacy of service, hard work, and love for his family will never be forgotten.

Calling hours will be held from 1:00-4:00pm with services to follow immediately to follow on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Traub Funeral Home, Inc., 684 North Main Street, Central Square. Entombment will be in the spring at Hillside Cemetery, Central Square, New York.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of Central New York.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
