Patrick “Rick” Byrnes, 56, passed away unexpectedly on April 18, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
A native of Syracuse, New York, Rick was born March 24, 1970, son of Richard and Cherie (Rosenow) Byrnes. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Paul and Rita Rosenow and Leon "Pat" and Madeline Byrnes, as well as his close friend, Thomas Pauli.
He was a Class of 1988 graduate of West Genesee High School and ITT Technical Institute. Computers were a lifelong passion for Rick. He was an avid gamer who particularly enjoyed mmorpg style games. As a hobby he enjoyed diagnosing and repairing computers. Rick was employed by Instant Delivery for 12 years, where he worked as a Senior Driver. Rick very much enjoyed this job and was referred to by many as a hard worker and loyal employee.
He is survived by his son, Jonathan Byrnes, and his friend and co‑parent, Sondra Pauli. In addition to his parents, Rick is also survived by his sisters, Karen (Mark) Peck and Klarissa (Daniel) Wake; his niece and nephew, Olivia and Alex Wake; his bonus daughters, Christin Barrett and Elise (Matt) Vecchio and their families; along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins who will cherish his memory always.
Calling hours will be held 4:00-7:00pm with a service to follow immediately on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at Traub Funeral Home, Inc., 7975 Route 31, Bridgeport New York. Burial will be private.
Rick's final act of generosity was the donation to Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network to help others lead fuller lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital or Upstate Foundation, 750 East Adams Street, Syracuse, New York 13210 or to the American Heart Association, 5575 Thompson Road, Syracuse, New York 13214.
