Paul H. Menjik

Paul “Coach” Menjk passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, with his family at his side. 

Calling hours will be held at Traub Funeral Home in Central Square, NY, on Wednesday, June 24th, from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM, with a funeral service beginning at 6:00 PM.

Paul was born in Oneida, NY on July 08, 1935, to Vassaliki “Bessie” Menjik and James A. Menjik. He graduated from Oneida High School in 1953 and served his country in both the Army National Guard and the US Army.  Paul went on to graduate from Syracuse University in 1960 and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. 

Paul was a business teacher at a Vocational High School in 1961, volunteering for the football team and golf league during his time there. He was a business and Driver’s Education teacher at Paul V. Moore in Central Square from 1962 to 1992. He played in the Central Square Teacher’s Golf League, volunteered as a coach for Central Square’s Little League baseball team and was the proud coach for the Central Square Rifle Team. Paul dedicated over 58 years to coaching the rifle team, beginning in 1963 and leading the program to numerous championships. 

He was a member of the North Sportsman’s Club, Camillus Sportsmen’s Club, Liverpool Sportsmen's Rod and Gun Club, as well as the American Legion Post #915 in Central Square. He was a competitive shooter, accomplishing Distinguished Rifleman, President’s Hundred, and setting a 600-yard match record, among many other achievements. Paul was a lifetime member of the NRA, and the NYSRPA.

Paul was an important piece of Central Square’s community and history. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving is his devoted wife; Sandra (Mruzik) Menjik, and his son; John P. Menjik, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. 

Predeceasing him is his parents; Bessie and James, his stepfather; James A. Paul and his sister; Mary Connell.
