Raymond R. Counterman

Raymond R. Counterman, 85, of Phoenix, NY, was reunited in Heaven with his loving wife, Nancy, of 67 years on May 7, 2026.

Raymond was born in Stroudsburg, PA, to the late Ruthledge and Ruth Counterman. He married Nancy Peters on July 12, 1958. Ray worked various jobs over the years, but his most enjoyable was driving 18-wheelers across the country. He retired from Boston Buffalo Express in East Syracuse. Nancy was often able to travel with him, something they both truly loved.

Raymond leaves behind a lasting legacy through his children: Tina (Ron) Svejkovsky, Billy Counterman, Todd (Shelly) Counterman, Cindy (Howard) Downing, and Nancy (Joseph) Bartosek; 18 grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and over 50 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Nancy (2025); his parents, Ruthledge and Ruth Counterman; his brother, Rolland; and his sister, Patreshia.

Visitation will be held at Traub Funeral Home in Central Square on Tuesday, May 12, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, May 13 at 11:00 AM, followed by a procession to Hillside Cemetery.
