Richard Mattice, 87, of Pennellville, peacefully passed on Sunday, September 23, 2018.
Born on March 12, 1931 to Herbert and Hazel Mattice, Richard served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He attended SUNY Oswego where he earned his Bachelor Degree and went on to earn his Masters Degree, one in Communications and one in history. Richard was formerly employed by G.E. and retired with SUNY Oswego, after 20 years of service, as an Audio Visual Coordinator. He held various offices, over 60+ years of membership at the Central Square Masonic Lodge, past President of United University Professions, past member of Pennellville United Methodist Church in which he helped build, President of a local Bottle Collectors Club, integral member of Fort Brewerton Museum, and member of Salmon River Fishing Museum. Richard was an avid collector and dealer of antiques. He enjoyed art, boating, archeology, scuba diving, hunting, fishing, history and a lifelong love for the Adirondacks.
Richard is predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Hazel Mattice; sister Marilyn; and brothers, Herbert and William. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nelma; daughters Nelma and Ingrid; sons Elliott and Eric; brother Norm (Lisa); sister Carol (Paul) Bednarz; grandson Marty, granddaughters Andrea and Lauren Cicarelli; and great grandson Dylan
Calling Hours will be held on Monday, 3 to 6 pm, with a Funeral Service at 6 pm, at Traub Funeral Home, 684 North Main Street, Central Square.
