Robert J. "RJ" Budd

Robert J. Budd (“RJ”), 27, of Central Square, passed away on June 28, 2026. RJ was a graduate of CNS High School in Cicero, NY.

RJ was what many would call an “old soul.” He was genuine, kind, and an incredible person who touched countless lives at such a young age. Anyone who knew RJ knew how deeply committed he was to his family and friends. He was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. His infectious smile could light up any room, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be remembered most for his generous heart, unwavering kindness, and the lasting impact he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him. RJ spent much of his life working alongside his father in the automotive industry. His father owned and operated Ontario Auto for many years, with locations in Fulton, Cicero, and Syracuse. From a young age, RJ and his brothers learned the family business, traveling to auctions, repairing and detailing vehicles, and selling cars together on the dealership lots. When the family decided to close Ontario Auto and sell the property, RJ proudly carried on the Ontario Auto name. He took the business and made it his own, opening a new dealership in Brewerton and quickly expanding it. He also co-owned The Finish Line Bar & Grill near Brewerton Speedway with his close friend and business partner, Alex, before later becoming the owner of Fine Point Towing.

RJ was remarkably wise and knowledgeable and achieved tremendous success at a young age. Most recently, he worked alongside his father buying and selling vehicles at auctions for their New York and Florida businesses, keeping him busy doing what he loved.

Despite his demanding schedule, RJ always made time for the people who mattered most. He loved attending his stepdaughter Mia’s school events, gymnastics competitions, and family holiday celebrations. He was always there to help his wife at her salon in Central Square, preparing for the many events she hosted, while also taking care of the lawn, snow removal, and anything else that needed to be done. Together, he and his wife had plans to open another car dealership in the coming year.

RJ was also an amazing cook who loved bringing people together. He enjoyed hosting large cookouts and preparing meals for family and friends. If you ever had the opportunity to enjoy one of RJ’s BBQ meals, you knew just how talented he was. He and his wife had even begun planning to open a BBQ food truck together—a dream they were excited to pursue.

Racing was another lifelong passion. RJ began drag racing at just nine years old with his father serving as his pit crew. He continued racing until he was 18, and as an adult, he remained involved in the racing community by sponsoring Ontario Auto race cars alongside his racing partners, Rick and Riley, at Brewerton and Fulton Speedways.

RJ is survived by his beloved wife, Brittany Budd; his cherished stepdaughter, Mia Scrimale; and their daughter, Remi James Budd, due in October 2026. He also leaves behind his beloved fur babies, King and Logan; his father, Robert H. Budd Jr. of Central Square, NY; his mother, Kelly S. Budd of Port Orange, FL; his brothers, Mike (Margaret) Budd of Liverpool, NY, and Nick (Crystal) Budd of Fulton, NY; along with his grandmother, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless close friends. RJ was predeceased by his grandparents, Robert H. Budd Sr., Jane Galloway, and Richard Walpole, as well as his beloved cousin, Timmy Budd.

In accordance with RJ’s wishes, no services will be held. Please remember RJ for the remarkable man he was, the love he shared so freely, and the legacy of kindness, hard work, and knowledge he leaves behind. Though he left this world far too soon, he will never be forgotten.
