Obituary
Robert E. Lyke, Sr., 87, of Bridgeport, New York died Tuesday, July 4, 2023 following a brief illness.
Bob was born September 23, 1935 to the late Walter and Ruth Doughton Lyke in Syracuse, New York and was raised in Pompey, New York on the family farm. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, the former Sharon Fore who died in 1996.
He retired from New Process Gear (Chrysler Corp.) in Syracuse, New York following 30 years of service as a machinist. Robert was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea and a U.S. Army National Guard veteran.
Robert was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed antiquing and auctions. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by a son, Robert E., Jr. (Mary) Lyke; stepdaughter, Tammie O’Hara; stepson, Kenneth Sebren; grandchildren, Sarah (Noah) Shope, Robert Lyke, III, Victoria Sebren and Amanda Kelley.
Funeral services will be 11:00am on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Traub Funeral Home, 7975 Route 31, Bridgeport, New York. Burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery, Peck Road, North Manlius, New York. Calling hours will be 4:00-7:30pm on Monday, July 10, 2023 at the funeral home.
