Shelby Trumble Obituary

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Shelby Marie Trumble, age 17, on August 1, 2024. Shelby, together with her sister Hailey, left us far too soon, leaving an irreplaceable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Shelby was born on November 10, 2006 and from a young age, her bright smile and infectious laughter brought joy to everyone around her. Shelby graduated from Hannibal Central School District in June of 2024, where her kindness and warmth touched the hearts of everyone she met. She completed the Cosmetology program through CiTi BOCES and loved using her talent to make others feel beautiful and confident.

Shelby had recently begun her first job working at Reeves Farm Stand and was eager to receive her driver’s license. Shelby’s sharp intellect, sense of humor, and creative spirit endeared her to all who were fortunate enough to meet her. Shelby also had a passion for nature and loved going fishing with her older brother, Riley. She enjoyed taking long walks and wandering along her great-grandparents’ woods and fields, picking blackberries and sharing laughter and stories with her loved ones. She adored the new kitten that she had recently adopted and named Smokey. Shelby had a curiosity that knew no bounds and her adventurous spirit was an inspiration to all who knew her.

She had an especially close relationship with her father, sister, and brother, and enjoyed simple, quiet moments spent together. Shelby’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

She leaves behind her father, Brian, and mother, Tina; her older brother, Riley; her paternal grandparents, Patrick and Mary; her maternal grandmother, Mary; her paternal great-grandmother, Margaret; stepsisters, Ciana and Addison, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will always remember her with love and pride.

Shelby’s family is thankful she made the selfless decision to be an organ donor and give the gift of life to many others.

Shelby was cremated together with her beloved sister, Hailey, and their ashes will be spread among the places they lived and loved together. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 10th at Traub Funeral Home, 684 North Main Street in Central Square from 11:00am-4:00pm.

A celebration of Shelby and Hailey’s lives will follow at the Hannibal Fire Department on Sunday, August 11th from 1:00pm-4:00pm.

Their father will hold a celebration of their lives and of Shelby’s high school graduation at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the CNY Cat Coalition, in honor of Shelby’s generous and loving spirit.

Shelby’s light shone brightly during her time with us, and though her absence is deeply felt, the love and joy she brought into the world will never be forgotten.
