Shirley Ann Brock, 83, passed away peacefully in her home in Central Square on December 18, 2022
after a brave battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Oneida on
November 16, 1939, to the late Floyd Johnson and the late Minnie Haynes.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Daniel in 2016, and siblings Stanley, Virginia, Florence, Donald, Kenneth,
and William. She is survived by her children: Phillip Shanahan, Kathleen (James) Weatherup, Maryellen
(Benjamin) Bugge, Patrick (Gena) Shanahan, Denise (Richard) Wilsey, Danielle (Michael) Peck, Lawrence
(Kris) Morgan, and Charles (Lisa) Morgan; he siblings, Terry, Louie, Bonnie, and Dennis. She had many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shirley was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and friend. She had an amazing sense of humor, which
she kept even through her most difficult struggles. She would always share funny stories and jokes with
loved ones or strangers. She gave the best advice, but only when asked. She was kind and never
judgemental. She loved to travel when she was younger and in her later years, she enjoyed listening to
babies laughing, shopping, and watching reality TV shows. Though Shirley spent most of her life as a
homemaker, she did work for 10 years as a cafeteria monitor, where she loved caring for the children at
A.A. Cole Elementary School. She touched so many lives and will be greatly missed.
Calling hours will be held at Traub Funeral home in Central Square on December 29, 2022 from 4:00-
6:00 PM, with a memorial service (at Traub) starting at 6:00.
