Shirley D. (Day) Noreault

Shirley D. Noreault, 93, formerly of Fayetteville, NY passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at The Cottages at Garden Grove in Cicero, NY where she resided. 

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2023 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at Traub Funeral Home in Central Square. She will be laid to rest at the family plot in Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 12PM (Noon).

Shirley was born in Syracuse, on September 24, 1929 to the late George and Madeline Day. She graduated from Fayetteville High School and worked mostly as a Teacher’s Aid, serving the Central Square School District. She married Gerald Noreault in Fayetteville, on September 10, 1949, and the two shared many years together until his passing. 

A strong willed woman; Shirley had the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, and  members of The Cottages where she spent her final days, often described her as ‘a force’. In her free time she was a crafter, especially enjoying sewing and cross stitching.
 

Left to cherish Shirley’s memory is her children; Ray (Tammy) Noreault, Terry Noreault, and Becky (Bill) Thousand, her sister; Susan Hall, her grandchildren; Brianna, Ryan, Bevin and Abbey; step-grandchildren; Scott, Christine and Julie, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Besides her parents, Shirley is predeceased by her husband Gerald, and her brothers; Bobby Day, Don Day, George Day, and Roger Day.
