Thomas M. Kires, affectionately known as “Tommy-Gun”, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side, on Saturday, September 14, 2024, after a long illness.
He was born on December 28, 1961, to the late Theodore and Margaret Kires.
Thomas graduated from North Syracuse High School in 1980. Tom went on to marry his wife of 39 years, Michele. He coached little league baseball for both of his sons. He then worked for the Central Square School District for 15 years as a school bus mechanic. Some of Tommy-Gun’s enjoyments in life were camping in the Adirondacks, traveling to Cape Cod, going on road trips and adventures because Tom loved to just get in the car and go, spending time with his grandsons, relaxing on the front porch, and hanging out with his cat, Cheddar.
In addition to his parents, Thomas is predeceased by his sister, Loretta Healey.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Michele Kires; children, Michael (Colleen) Kires, Mathew (Crystal) Kires, and Katie (David) Barber; grandsons, Brendan, Braxton, Brayden Kires; siblings, Theodore (Colleen) Kires, Janet Iammatteo, and Diane (John) Colton; furr-baby, Cheddar; along with several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private to the family.
In lieu of flowers and donations, the family asks that everyone adopt Tom’s philosophy- “Be kind, love your family, and be a good friend”.
