Our father and loving husband, Thomas B. Webb, 74 of Camden, NY passed away from complications related to Covid on Sunday, November 29, 2020.
Dad grew up in Bernhards Bay, New York working in the family lumber and timber business, H.B. Webb Lumber Company. After attending the NYS Ranger School in Wanakena, NY (1966) he joined the Army and served in the Army Reserves while continuing to work at Webb Lumber. When the mill was sold in Bernhards Bay, he started his own sawmill and lumber business in the 1970s near Camden, often referred to as Camden Woods. Although he closed the mill in the 1990s, he continued to work in Camden Woods managing the timber and the land he loved into his seventies as well as spending time on Wellesley Island. He was self-employed and a man of his own making - through hard work his entire life. Dad was a man of the forest. He loved to be in the woods, among the trees and watch the wildlife that surrounded his home.
Dad was a true original, genuine in the friendships he shared with so many people that he met over the years. We knew we had something special in father & husband and we appreciate the many thoughts, notes, and calls from our neighbors, friends and family in the past few days. It is great to hear from each of you how much dad meant to you and are pleased that you understood and valued what he shared throughout his life.
As children, we were so very proud of what he accomplished and was able to pass along to us. The value of rising in the morning with purpose, gratefulness for what you have, your health, and of course family. The passing of our brother, Aaron, at the age of 4 had a profound impact on both of our parents lives and kept their devotion to the family and one another a priority over the last four decades. They were always present in our lives, including at Clarkson University where they were on the parents committee (probably to keep an eye on us both, but also to party here and there along the way, too); and later in our lives as we each married and raised our own children with the many lessons he passed along the way.
We have been truly blessed by his influence in our lives and his grandchildren’s lives. He was particularly proud his grandchildren and always enjoyed hearing about their lives. Our family is rich in the legacy and memories he leaves us and hopefully with you as well.
Dad always thought of himself as a simple man and would have hated a big fuss or service and so we are going to honor his wishes. Instead, we would ask that you maybe take a walk in the woods, raise a drink in a toast and think back on the memories you shared of him. In lieu of flowers, a donation to plant a tree in his name would greatly be appreciated and add to his remembrance.
Thank you,
Pat Webb
