Dr. Trina Durant (Waite/Petrie) age 46 of Bernhards Bay (formally of Central Square and
Lowville, NY) passed away suddenly on February 1, 2023, due to complications with Lupus.
She Married Paul Durant (formally of Watertown, NY) at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Catholic
Church Watertown, NY in May of 1997. She’s survived by her husband Paul, daughter Sydney,
Parents Kathy McNulty (Jerry), Robin Petrie, Clarence Waite Jr, Elizabeth Durant, Siblings
Karen Waite Frolish (Doug Hoyt), Tony Petrie (Leslie), Bridget Ratliff (Daniel), Paula Cornell
(Rick), Teresa Johnson, Robert Durant, Michael Durant. 20 Nieces and Nephews and 9 Great
Nieces and Nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Carla Petrie, Father-In-Law Robert
‘Bud’ Durant, Maternal Grandparents Francis ‘Sonny’ & Shirley Staie, Paternal Grandparents
Harold & Emma Petrie.
She graduated as salutatorian with a Regents Honors Diploma from Lowville Academy Central
School, class of 1994, was a Member of the National Honor Society, and Basketball
Cheerleading Squad. She attended Jefferson Community College and graduated with Honors
with an Associates Degree in Math/Science in 1997. She went on to graduate with an Honors
Doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Buffalo, School of Pharmacy in 2002. She worked
as a Pharmacist for 19 years for: Wegmans Pharmacy, Watertown Correctional Facility, Target
Pharmacy, Oswego Hospital, Costco, the NYSDOH Mass Vaccination Site in Binghamton area,
recently she worked for UHS in Binghamton and Pharmascripts in the Binghamton area where
she worked with and met amazing people throughout her career. She was active in Lupus
awareness and a Girl Scout Leader in the area for many years.
Trina had an infectious smile and loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was
affectionately called ‘Beaner’ by her grandpa Sonny and extended Staie family. She enjoyed
traveling especially cruising, nature walks, spending time at the beach, watching sunrises and
sunsets, she loved to kick butt at card or board games with her family and ensuring that lots of
pictures were taken along the way. She loved with all her heart and gave the most amazing
hugs. Her proudest moment was the day she became a mother to Sydney, she loved her
daughter more than anything. She enjoyed planning parties, participating in activities, watching
her dance, helping her with schoolwork, or just hanging out in her room to watch her play.
Trina will “Always be Loved, Forever Missed, and Never Forgotten” by all her family and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, from 12 – 2 PM and 4 – 7 PM at Traub
Funeral Home in Central Square, NY. In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks that those who
