Veronica F. Proulx, 90, of West Monroe, NY passed away at home Tuesday with her family by her side.
Veronica was born in Lowville, NY to the late George W and Nellie (Dickinson) Veitch on September 1, 1931. She married the love of her life, James, in 1952 and they celebrated 67 years of marriage, when he passed in 2019.
Veronica volunteered at the Downstairs Scotty and Food Pantry at St Michaels for 30 years. She was a Religious Education teacher for several years. Wherever the church needed a volunteer, Veronica was always there to help. She loved Knitting, gardening, cooking, sewing, and playing cards. After her husband retired, they spent summers at Jerden Falls at their camp. Veronica was very giving and very loving. She was a “Mom” to the entire neighborhood.
Veronica is survived by her eight children, Jacqueline (Timothy) Brockett of Parish, NY, Gary (Debra) Proulx of St. Joseph, MI, Donna Proulx of Central Square, NY, Mark (Ava) Proulx of Pahrump, NV; Patty (David) Smith of Palermo, NY, Sue (Ronald) Perkins of Palermo, NY, Amy (Matthew) Gorman of West Monroe, NY, and Stephen (Teresa) Proulx of Parish, NY; 22 Grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson; siblings, Frederick (Florence) Veitch and Pauline Babcock; she was the favorite aunt of all of her nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be 5-7pm on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Traub Funeral Home, Central Square. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 am on Wednesday at Divine Mercy Parish. Burial will be in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery, Parish, NY.
