Virginia J. (Moore) Schalk

Virginia J. “Ginny” Schalk, 72, of Liverpool, passed away on May 18, 2022 at Upstate University Hospital. She was born in Ogdensburg, NY on August 11, 1949 to the late Neil and the late Helen (Bell) Moore.

Ginny moved to North Syracuse in 1954 and graduated from North Syracuse High School.. She then attended Maria Regina College where she earned her Bachelors in Education. Ginny worked tirelessly for 35 years throughout the North Syracuse Central School District ensuring that children with special needs received the education services, advocacy, inclusion, and dignity that they rightfully deserved. She co started Main Street Early Education Program and Latch-key Program. Ginny was also President of the Teacher’s Assistant Union from 2010- 2016. She was involved in Blood Drives and Christmas Food Basket give aways as well as numerous local sports organizations, charities, and community events through out her life.

Ginny is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard Schalk; children, Michael (Erica) Schalk and Kevin (Jackie) Schalk; sister, Robin Moore; 5 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved and cherished deeply.

Services will be private. There will be a Celebration of Life for friends, family, and colleagues who wish to share a memory and pay their respects. It will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 5- 7 PM at the Spinning Wheel Restaurant, 7383 Thompson Rd, North Syracuse, NY in the Banquet Room
