Virginia "Ginny" Betts Morgan, 92 of Central Square, New York died Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at her winter home in Melbourne, Florida.
Ginny was born May 5, 1933 in Anniston, Alabama and grew up in Ohatchee, Alabama, daughter of the late Robert Ellis and Moett Lee Pippin. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her first husband, George Ira Betts in 1976 and her second husband, Milton Morgan in 1994.
She was the Homecoming Queen in her senior year of high school. shortly their after she met George Ira Betts who was stationed at Fort McClennan in Anniston, Alabama after his stint in the Korean War. They married in 1953 and relocated to George's hometown of Phoenix, New York where they raised their family. Unfortunately George died early in life and Virginia married Milton Morgan in 1980. A housewife and homemaker raising four children. After the children were grown and gone, she worked 20 years as Office Manager prior to retirement in 1995 at Murphy Insurance Agency in Phoenix, New York. In 2008 Virginia moved to Central Square, New York to live with her oldest son, George and wintered in Melbourne, Florida with her daughter Rhonda.
Virginia is survived by sons, George David (Marie Green) Betts of Central Square, New York, Dean (Marie) Pippin Betts of Punta Gorda, Florida and Dwight Burton Betts of Lake Placid, Florida; daughter, Rhonda (Larry) Compton of Melbourne, Florida; stepchildren, Jim (Beth) Morgan of Raddison, New York, Linda (Chuck) Murphy and Karen Scusa all of Statesboro, Georgia; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am with services to follow immediately on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Traub Funeral Home, Inc., 684 North Main Street, Central Square, New York. Burial will be in Phoenix Rural Cemetery, Phoenix, New York.
Ginny's family is requesting everyone join them following the burial to continue the celebration of Ginny's life at the American Legion in Central Square, New York.
Contributions in memory of Virginia may be made to the Century Club of Phoenix, New York.
