William DeLapp Obituary

William H. "Bill" DeLapp, 89, of Bridgeport, passed away July 3 after a long illness
Bill had a long career in the Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department, where he was captain of the fire police and also a fire investigator.
For many years, he also served in the Cicero Police Department's Volunteers in Police Service program, supporting the department's activities and endeavors.
Bill was a carpenter and worked at Syracuse China for 38 years He was a recent graduate of Cicero-North Syracuse High School.
Born in Waterloo, December 23, 1931, Bill spent his entire life in Central New York, save for a four-year stint in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
While stationed in England, he met Sheila Allsopp, who was the love of his life. She became his bride and they had 66 years of wedded bliss and enjoyed watching the birth and growth of four sons, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his father, Frank DeLapp; his mother, Dorothy Inglis; stepfather, John Inglis; and his son Michael "Mick" DeLapp.
He is survived by son William H. DeLapp, Jr., his wife, Debbie, and granddaughter, Amy; son Gary DeLapp, his wife, Linda, granddaughter, Jennifer Haskins, her husband,, Kyle and great grandsons Lucas and Benjamin Haskins; grandson Gary DeLapp, his wife, Crystal, and great grandson, Caden; grandson Brian DeLapp and Cheyenne Williams; son John DeLapp, his wife, Linda, and grandsons Jack and Nick and granddaughters Sheila and Emma; daughter-in-law Norma DeLapp and granddaughter Hannah.
