William Whittaker Obituary

Our father, William B. Whittaker, left this world on November 19, 2022 [two months shy of] age 97- at Seneca Hill Nursing Home. Bill lived most of his life in  Central Square.

He was born on January  30, 1926 in Cleveland, New York.
Predeceased by his wife of 71 years, Margaret (Lee). His sisters, Bette Smith and Barbara Doria and parents, William and Emma Whittaker.
He is survived by sons,  A. Scott Whittaker (Jeann), William P. Whittaker  (Sandra), daughter, Donna McGregor;  brother, Robert Whittaker (Mary);
five grand-children, twelve great-grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bill was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy. He received an American Theater medal and a Victory Medal.
Bill was a previous Mason member of Scriba #414 in Constantia, New York.
During his long life, his occupations include: electronic repairs, restaurant owner, tax assessor, school bus driver, assistant surveyor, civilian employee at Griffiss Air Force Base,  golf course grounds keeper and farmer.
His most prized role was being a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was loved by all with his warmth and  irresistible sense of humor- even in his last days. Bill had many hobbies and interest throughout the years: drumming for several bands,  race car fan, golfing late in life, hunting/ trapping, flying airplanes,  motorcycling, and best of all performing unending tricks for the grandchildren!
We will miss you and always love you.
We were so fortunate to have you for as long as we did and  know you will be happy and  peaceful with mom in eternity.
Visitation for Bill will be on Monday- November 28, 2022 from 4-6 pm. Services immediately after at Traub Funeral home in Central Square.
All are invited after the services to the Central Square American Legion to celebrate his life.
Private graveside services will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers,  please donate to a charity of choice.
