Joseph David Domachowske

Joseph D. Domachowske, 78, of Cleveland, passed away at his home, on Sunday, with family by his side. Joe was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist, joined the Army Reserves, and later graduated from LeMoyne College with a Bachelors in Accounting. He worked for the IRS for 40 years, but after his retirement, was brought back to teach for 10 years. Joe was a Scoutmaster of Troop 127, Pitcher Hill, for 12 years and was a Trustee for the Village of Cleveland for 6 years.  Joe was a serious sports fan who never missed a tailgate party at his favorite games, including Syracuse Basketball, Syracuse Chiefs, and the NY Yankees. He had many hobbies, such as golf, bowling, woodworking, gardening and reading. Joe was an avid American history buff and was known to play the accordion on occasion. Even through his illness Joe refused to stop living life, he studied German, taught himself piano, and always made a point to join his “cronies” for lunch. He is predeceased by his parents, Lucy and Joe; sister, Carolyn Waterman; and grandson, Joshua Domachowske.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lenore (Miller) Domachowske; children, Denise (Joe) Famolaro, Dr. Joseph (Marybeth) Domachowske Michael (Kim) Domachowske, David “Andy” (Missy) Domachowske, Daniel “Burt” (Sonya) Domachowske, Susan (Dan) Jacobson, William “Tim” (Liz) Domachowske; 27 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Domachowski; and sister, June Domachowske.

As per his wishes, he was enrolled in the anatomical gift program at SUNY Upstate Medical University. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 13, from 3-8 PM, at the home of Andy and Missy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Cleveland Volunteer Fire Department.
